WHY IS BREATHING IMPORTANT?

Most people don’t realise they’ve been breathing wrong their whole lives. Shallow, irregular breathing signals ‘danger’ to the nervous system, keeping you stuck in stress, anxiety, fatigue, and disconnection.

It clouds your thoughts, numbs emotions, and erodes your sense of self, affecting how you relate, decide, and live. When your breath is out of alignment, you are out of alignment but your breath is also the way back. Relearning to breathe fully and consciously is one of the most powerful ways to regulate your nervous system, reconnect to your truth, and live with clarity, energy, and presence. Hey, we’re Tegan and Jo, partners in life and business, parents to five amazing children and the founders of Aligned Breath & Coaching.

We help individuals and couples who feel disconnected - whether from each other or from themselves - regulate their nervous systems through the power of breathwork and come back into alignment with who they truly are.

Our personal journey is what makes this work so meaningful. We both came from failed marriages, rebuilt our lives, and only six months after meeting and blending our families, we were faced with one of life’s biggest tests: Joe’s was diagnosed with Stage 4 terminal cancer. Instead of letting it break us, that chapter taught us just how essential nervous system regulation really is. We leaned on breathwork, presence and the lessons we’d gathered along the way to carry us through.

Coming out the other side, we knew we wanted to share these tools. Because breathwork isn’t just about “breathing differently.” It’s a reset button, helping you find safety in your body, calm in the chaos, freedom from anxiety and depression and the strength to face whatever life throws your way.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I know if I am 'overbreathing' or not breathing properly?

We are in the midst of an over breathing epidemic. It is estimated that over 70% of the population are over-breathing, contributing to the mental health crisis we currently face.
Through a personalised breath analysis, we can offer you insight into how often your nervous system is in a dysregulated state,and more importantly, learn the techniques needed to bring you back into a regulated state.

Can I still participate if I am pregnant?

Yes, you can still do a breathwork when you are pregnant, however there are some styles that aren't suitable so we will give you instructions on when to change your breathing style to ensure both your and your babies safety.

What if I have health issues like asthma, can breathwork still help me?

Absolutely. Many individuals who attend sessions have preexisting health conditions that impact their breathing patterns. We simply adjust the breathing technique to ensure your safety.

Isn't this breathwork stuff just all woo woo spiritual bs?

No, it’s a scientifically backed, highly effective tool for regulating the nervous system. When practiced intentionally, specific breathing techniques can shift the body out of a stress response and into a state of safety and calm. Studies show that conscious breathwork influences the vagus nerve, lowers cortisol levels, and supports emotional regulation, focus, and resilience.
